About Got TA Go and Easy Rider, Key West

 Capts Rob and Melissa Harris

Captain Rob holds a USCG 100 ton Master’s License and has been living and fishing in the Lower Keys full-time since 1999. Growing up in South East Texas, he started his love of fishing at a very young age. Working with his father, they commercial fished in the Galveston and Matagorda Bay areas to help supply the families fish market. At 17, he joined the US Navy mainly because of his love of the water and desire to fish the world. In 1999 he came ashore for the last time as a Sailor for the Navy. While stationed at NAS Key West he was the Leading Chief Petty Officer of Tarpon Division responsible for scheduling and control of more than 500,000 sq miles of Air and Water space for the Navy. In 2003, he retired from active duty to pursue his life with Melissa and their shared love of the Keys and all it has to offer.

Captain Melissa has a USCG 50 ton Master’s License and has been living and fishing in the Lower Keys full-time since 2002. Born and raised in the small (used to be small) town of Oviedo Florida outside of Orlando, her love of the Keys and Fishing also started at a very young age. Her parents would spend the summer months on Sugarloaf Key with Melissa and her sister teaching them about the sport we all love. After a career as a Registered Nurse specializing in Critical Care, Oncology and Academia, she struck out on her own to help form specialty home care services company, IV One Inc becoming President and CEO. After Bindley Western bought IV One Inc she stayed on as a Corporate Officer to form Priority Health Care Inc. After the company’s successful launch into the publicly traded stock market, she set her plans for retiring and took over as the Special Projects Officer to see through initiatives that were already underway. After the successful launch of her last project, she retired to the Keys full-time in 2002 to pursue life with Rob and fishing the Keys.

Together they are the fishing team of the Charter Vessel “Got TA Go”. A 30’ Hydrocat sport fishing boat specializing in Bluewater fishing trips off the Lower keys. Another passion they share is Tournament Fishing. They have several tournament wins/top 5 finishes to their credit from Kingfish to Swordfish and hold record catches for the Key West Fishing Tournament.
